Croydon are off to the short journey down Days Road to face a tricky fixture when they visit Elite Stadium to tackle the vastly improved Adelaide Olympic side.
Olympic have recruited heavily during the off-season, and on their day can prove to be a handful on their familiar artificial turfed ground.
Let’s make no mistake – this is as big a game for Croydon as it is for Olympic. The home side won its first game well, but has lost their last two in a row, whereas the Kings started off slowly, yet got up with narrow wins in their last two.
Croydon can entrench themselves in the top part of the table with a win, which will be seen as vital with some tough games coming up.
Both teams will remember how last season Olympic won 4-2 at Polonia Reserve, but Croydon turned the tables winning a crucial fixture late in the season at Saturday’s venue 2-1.
This match will be a tipsters nightmare due to varying form, however we are fairly certain the game will be worth going along to, just for its sheer intrigue alone.
The Reserves will be keen to build on their 100% start to the season and the U/18’s have a real chance to show their improvement against a side they beat in pre-season trial. All they need to do is replicate their first half efforts into the second half, and they’ll be back in the mix in no time.
Let’s remember the changing start times with the games kicking off at 3pm, 5pm and main game at 7pm.
On a final note, we wish Bernie Farrell a speedy recovery when he goes in for some surgery shortly. Bernie, father of players Nathan and Joshua, is a mad Croydon supporter and many will know him from his voluntary ground stewardship in recent years as well as his jovial nature and support of the bar. All the best Bernie, and let’s hope Croydon can snatch 3 more points for you!
