Croydon Kings venture into TK Shutter Reserve, home of Metrostars for their quarter final Federation Cup clash on Saturday, kicking off at 2.30pm.
There have been some huge battles between the teams in recent years, but Croydon still seem to struggle when playing at this venue, not in terms of competitiveness, just lack of wins!
The “lucky” yellow cup kit might make an appearance, after it being refused when the two teams met last season in the cup, albeit at a neutral venue.
Unlike its league form, the forwards seem to have no trouble finding the net when it comes to the cup this season, scoring 8 goals in the two cup games so far.
Metro however will be keen to maintain their impressive record in the competition, and are the current cup holders, so will not be giving up their stronghold on the cup easily.
The Kings were the previous winners in 2015, so it’s clear that both teams treat this cup seriously, and so they should, especially as the winners will have another crack at the next FFA Cup competition.
It’s hard to read into the form of both sides in recent weeks as both have had their ups and downs so a game in which extra time and dare I say it penalty shoot outs, won’t be a surprise.
Expect it to be tense, expect it to be tight. Whoever wins will be relieved more than anything, given the respect each team has for each other.
Traditionally we should have extra numbers in terms of vocal support, so let’s keep up this trend and give the lads our best! Hey Polonia!
