Its cup time again and the Croydon boys are off to Santos Stadium to face Adelaide Comets, who currently sit top of the NPL table.
The Kings have no fear of Comets, despite the opposition having the upper hand in recent games where at least two of the last three losses, all by one goal, it’s fair to say Croydon had no luck at all.
If law of averages apply, the Kings are due to for some luck, and that coupled with their lucky yellow away/cup strip, you’d be mad to bet against them!
Last time out, only a few weeks ago in league action, we feared that former King Andreas Wiens would be the major threat with his aerial prowess and all round game as good as any forwards going around.
But Jarrod Brazzale and Hosine Bility did a grand job in holding off the in-form striker and he had a relatively quiet game. However we know that it took just one moment of brilliance from Wiens to make all the difference, so again he will have to be a marked man.
Comets have talent all over the ground, but now that the Kings are nearing full strength, they can match them and even beat them in certain areas.
Anyway, we hope you all enjoy your Easter and hope that you find time to come along on Saturday and support your team – remember, winning this cup gets us into the prestigious FFA Cup!
The seniors kick off at 2.30pm, with U/18’s at 9.30am and Reserves at 12pm. Let’s cheer all 3 teams into the next round!
The Croydon Mermaids are in action at home on Wednesday the 19th April to the high-flying South Adelaide team, with seniors kicking off at 8pm.
Pic – courtesy Joe Janko – captain Luke Klimek in previous action vs Comets will be in the thick of it and can mix it with the best of them. His determination knows no bounds!
